My mother paid over R1300 for and submitted all her paperwork for the renewal of her SA permanent residency in September 2015 via VFS Global services at the Cape Town branch.

To date, she has not had any feedback from VFS Global, the online user dashboard only shows the submission date and no other tracking or status. They are uninterested in providing further information. Blaming the delay (without investigating the cause) on HOme Affairs.

I have contacted South African Home Affairs and have over 13 emails since January 2017 going back and forth requesting feedback as to the why she has not had a single bit of feedback on her application.
Home Affairs keeps responding to me saying that her application is in review and that they will request an expedite but nothing else is forth coming.

We've been waiting almost 2 years for a renewal! It's bloody unbelievable. She has been unable to travel since she submitted her original paperwork which was in her expired British Passport.
My mother has lived in South Africa since the 1950%u2019s and we can not fathom what the hold up could be that it%u2019s taken so many months (21) and we are still no where near finding out what the hold up is.
My sister & I both live overseas & it's extremely traumatic knowing she cannot even come & see her grandchildren.
Is there a legal action again VFS Global for bad service/lack of service? How/where do we go from here?
